From $145 · Smallest property size

Why call us

What you get when we do it.

It gets done ahead of the freeze, not after it. One cracked backflow preventer costs more than doing it on time.

  • Water shut off to the system
  • Lines blown out zone by zone
  • Backflow preventer drained and wrapped
  • Hose bibs wrapped
  • Controller set for winter

What we know

What we'd tell you standing in your driveway.

Useful whether or not you ever call us.

01

Beat the first hard freeze

Around Nashville the first freeze usually lands in late October or early November. One night in the upper twenties is enough to crack a line or a backflow preventer holding water.

02

Draining isn't blowing out

Opening the drain valves leaves water sitting in every low spot in the lines. Blowing them out with air is what actually empties them.

03

Protect the backflow preventer

It sits above ground, it's the most exposed part of the system, and it's the most expensive part to replace. Drain it and wrap it.

04

Take the hoses off

A hose left connected traps water in the spigot, and even frost-free spigots can split when that water freezes. Disconnect and drain every one.

Questions

What people ask about it.

When should I winterize my sprinklers in Nashville?

Between mid-October and the first week of November, before the first hard freeze. After a freeze is too late if water was sitting in the lines.

Do I really need to winterize sprinklers in Tennessee?

Yes. Winters here are mild on average, but hard freezes still come most years, and the backflow preventer sits above ground where it takes the worst of them.

Can you turn the system back on in spring?

Yes. Spring start-up checks every zone and fixes what the winter broke.

What we don’t do

  • Backflow devices installed — that's licensed plumbing work
